The dead rest! After being tasked to track down the rogue Jedi Jerec, SBI agents formerly of the Jedi Service Corps rediscovered the ancient Valley of the Jedi.

Finding Jerec deep within the valley, Chris Saunt was struck by visions of the future, foretelling the fall of the Republic if Jerec's evil schemes should be foiled.

Foiling his evil schemes, the SBI agents stripped Jerec of the Force and freed the spirits trapped within the valley....

So when you took Jarek back, you did get a couple of flashes, but it's it was it's kind of hard to discern whether it was a vision, whether it was a lingering thing of Jarek's power, what he was showing you in your mind. Uh so maybe it's not affecting you that much, but you did like as you as the ship was like flying towards the temple, just for a split second, like you arrived during the day for a split second. You thought you saw it at night on fire. But, you know, it was it was very short, you know, could have been you might have just blinked, you don't know. Uh when you sat down, the Jedi who came to take Jarek and his cronies off your hands was the Jedi Temple's head of security. You've met him a couple of times now that you've kind of had to bring Jedi back a couple of times. Uh his name is Sindralig. Uh he's a human Jedi master, long blonde hair. He's kind of got the vibe of like a kid who ran away to the circus. When when you like shook his hand, you got like just a little bit like it felt a little colder than usual. Not not again, not anything that's gonna set you up.

And he did ask you um if you remembered what happened to Master Halland's lightsaber because uh it wasn't on the ship when he was brought back to Coruscant. They didn't find it. So they're just he's just wondering what happened to that.

That uh he's going to be joining the next gathering trip to Ilum to get a new kyber crystal to build a new lightsaber.

Well, you learned that he was kind of slowly being introduced. Right now he's uh overseeing the uh training of clone soldiers on Camino. The gathering, as you guys have all gone on your own gatherings, you all have built lightsabers, although they are now confiscated within the Jedi Temple. I'll get it back. The gathering itself is a test where when a Jedi goes to Ilum, they have to face a trial to get a new crystal. If they don't pass the trial, they don't get a crystal.

He's a little more professional this time around. He gives you the nod. And uh Gray, once you finish talking, he says, Alright, so. Uh first I just want to uh acknowledge that we have uh a milestone coming up here. Uh it's been a little pretty close to a year since you guys started working for us. Hey, happy anniversary! Happy, happy anniversary, and you guys have been doing a great, great job with us. So, um Hey, you've been doing a good job. Now I don't have anything for you today, but um if you would be willing to sign uh your signatures on these data pads here, I think I could probably uh get you a nice present the next time I see you. A week ago, uh, the planet Almus in the Kalaran system was struck by a rogue comet, which uh unfortunately destroyed a forest of Chihala trees, which are sacred. To the Terrasins who were native to the system. Thankfully, uh nobody was hurt, but uh we've been able to determine that this wasn't a natural occurrence.

What are the clues that uh uh allow us to know that?

Well, the planet is home to a Jedi Academy that's been operating uh more or less independently from the Jedi Council since the days of the High Republic. They've been afforded a a large degree of freedom. I don't know the specifics, but from the sounds of things, they do tend to do things a little bit differently than the Jedi here in Coruscant do. And supposedly this accident was the result of a plan to reroute a comet from orbit and use it to introduce more water into the planet's atmosphere as part of a terraforming project that's been happening on Almus for quite some time. Now, obviously, that went wrong, and the Terrasins are very upset.

Well, it's not uh it's been going on for so long that we don't exactly have uh concrete records of how it started. Uh the planet at one point was uh not fit for life, and somebody started it. I think it must have been the Terrasins, they live in the Kalaran system, but uh they only recently joined the Republic, so we don't exactly have uh very detailed records of their goings on, and the investigation has only started recently, so we haven't really looked into the history of Almus very much, but uh the reason we think that the Jedi might have been involved, might this might be more than an accident, is because we've made several requests over the past week for the Jedi to submit the trajectory data that they were using to help reroute the comet. But they have not. The data that they've sent us is incredibly sparse, it's missing a lot of details, uh, and I don't want to rush to any conclusions, but I think one of two things might have happened. Number one, either they uh eyeballed it and they uh pulled that comet down with the force and uh destroyed a large forest of very sacred trees to the Terrasins, which is incredibly negligent, and uh I think should result in the Academy being shut down, or they're hiding something, in which case the academy should probably be shut down, and maybe some Jedi need to be arrested. So this academy is gonna get shut down anyway. I think uh that might be the only way to calm the Terrasins down is to just kind of get the Jedi out of there. You say they're not happy with us then and the Council, when what the Corusant Council has uh told us, they haven't really been happy with the way the Almus Academy has been running things anyway. So I think uh, especially now with uh the galaxy at war, we need the Jedi to be unified. I don't want to say this is an excuse to shut them down, but I think bringing them back into the fold, getting them under actual Jedi leadership, making sure everybody's uh marching to the same beat, you might say, is probably a good idea.

The Academy, uh, a city called Ferrard kind of sprung up around the academy. And Ferrard, it's not a Terrassian city. Ferrard is populated primarily by the families and descendants of the Jedi who's who trained at the Academy.

Let's go check the crash site. So you can head to the crash site. And as you fly towards it, uh, you can start to see bits where there are like this immense force. It's the same kind of trees that you saw in the city, the kind that react to sound, that change color when sound hits them. And you can see that there are like these, first these little patches where a couple of trees have been uh knocked down by wayward shards of comet. And as the comet is breaking up, eventually more and more of these patches open up, and you can see the trees around form like a black rainbow from the epicenter of the crash sites as the sound of destruction hit all the other trees around them that didn't uh that didn't survive until eventually it opens up into this enormous clearing where the ground has just been worn away and there are shards of ice and water that have just blasted, created this immense crater on impact. And you can see that in the center of it all is a black structure.

And you can see as you come closer that this structure is huge. Like this is like a fortress that was hidden in the forest. Can we find a door? So you can recognize that there are lots of like tall statues of robed figures that are kind of built into the walls looking down on the people here. The the faces in the statues are sunken and skeletal. You guys can see that there are like lots of rooms that hold strange equipment that uh has been left to rot for a long time. Cages with the carcasses of dead creatures, some cages that have been broken open, some of the carcasses litter, the ground as if these creatures escaped. And you can kind of gather, Kala, you can't find, but you can kind of look around as well. And you can kind of gather that this temple was seemingly devoted to the creation of monsters, and that maybe what like maybe something got out when the comet hit the wall of the temple and sheared it open. Maybe some creature survived in here and is now loose on the planet.

And it seems like this root is the same type of tree uh that was part of the forest up above. That was the same type of tree that was in the city, the kind that is kind of sensitive to sounds. You got advantage. So you can kind of see there are a group of other Jedi. Uh there is a middle-aged human man with kind of graying hair and a short beard who seems to be their leader. They all seem to kind of be deferring to him, and he seems to be kind of leading the investigation and taking them into uh another room.
